New year, new you? 2023 id going to be #easeful

New year, new you? Me too!

I hope you had a suitably celebratory start to the new year and are feeling energized and ready to tackle all that 2023 has in store for you.

It’s been a cracker here- some days off before Christmas meant that I landed primed and ready rather than screeching to an exhausted halt. A week off-grid with life long friends and their tribe of tweens meant New Years arrived as a welcome punctuation mark to a week of relaxation. That time between Christmas and New Years when you don’t even know what day of the week it is finally returned this year after a 3 year hiatus. I hope that you, like me, finally got the Summer break we have so needed. 2020-2022- farewell- i’m super happy to see the back of you!

Now each year, I make it a habit to choose a “word of the year” to help keep me on course with my fresh-new year intentions. This helps save me from the inevitable shame of failing to keep to lofty new year’s resolutions, but still capitalises on the positivity and direction that a new year brings- and can help put be back on course if I lose my way.

In 2020 my word was ‘RESET’ (oops- we got a little more than we bargained for there). Still grappling with the tsunami of personal and professional challenges of 2020-2021, I was very pleased with my 2022 word, “NEVERTHELESS.” It captured the “onwards and upwards” + “who the hell knows what’s going to happen” vibe perfectly. Plus, when I looked back at the messiness of last year, I realised that despite all the disruptions, it was actually “not-less”- we got some shit done despite it all!

So at the beginning of this new working year, I am excited to set course for the opportunities ahead guided by my 2023 word “EASEFUL.” To me, this means finding balance and taking the path of least resistance in both my personal and professional life. It’s about letting go of unnecessary stress, embracing flexibility and saying YES to the low hanging fruit and MAYBE LATER to the big stretches. (I’m still working on my delivery for the ever elusive “NO” 😉 Maybe by 2024?)

And what more FULSOME way to embrace EASE than by removing the friction and claiming balance with some healthy Work/Life routines close to home this year? With the rise of remote work, more and more people are discovering the benefits of their local coworking communities. Not only do we offer a professional and productive environment to work in, but also the opportunity to get your mojo back by connecting with like-minded individuals and becoming more connected to your local community.

So as the new year begins, make a deliberate choice to retain the best of the flexibilities you’ve gained over the past few years. Work smart, stay local. Put some sustainable boundaries in place, start as you intend to continue and feel the difference.

Here’s to an easeful 2023!
