Sometimes its good to get out of your head, and back into nature…

Term two, here we go. I love the school holidays and I hate the school holidays. As a working parent of three teenagers you would think I would have had enough practice by now with navigating the 12-14 weeks a year that where the routine is upended.

Yet somehow these disrupters arrive for me as if I were a goldfish- ‘Oh wow, what’s this? Holidays? Again? Well who is going to keep the kids off the streets & their phones today?

So yes the holidays are a blessing and a curse. The injustice of trying to navigate them with the expectation of rest and recreation, balanced uncomfortably against the reality of brutal multitasking and endless guilt about the screens or poor supervision just never seems to resolve.

But on the upside I treat W1 back at term like a quarterly make up session with my New Years Day resolutions. After a chance to let the carefully calibrated routines collapse into their natural state of entropy for a few weeks (wine on Tuesday night anyone?) before I carefully pick up the scattered deck of cards and restart again. Sleep hygiene, booze free days, to-do lists, meditation, walking the dogs, resetting the default diary, exercise, focus….. oh yeah, I remember why I need all of you.

So after making the most of the cluster of long weekends to spend some time in nature deep breathing, letting the days go by and de-fragging the operating system. I’m back. And Term 2 is BIG for WorkLife. We have a new site to get ready to launch in Picton. We have some INCREDIBLE creative events coming up. We have some new systems to bed down. We have some fun new tools to share with our community to help you regain some Work mojo and make sure that this quarter you buckle down, reclaim the balance and get some sh*t done.

And if that’s tricky for you……you know who to call!

Term 2…..let’s do this.

Best wishes,
