Get your work mojo this winter……WorkLife is here to help!

Well as things are cooling down with the weather – things are hotting up around here!

After a long wait we are just about to get the keys next week for our newest location in the beautiful town of Picton. After a major restoration of the Old Picton Post Office managed by the awesome Economic Development Team at Wollondilly Council, we were lucky enough to win the public tender to operate WorkLife from this landmark building. We are on the hunt for a new Community Manager and a coterie of founding members there- so if you know anyone in the Picton/Tahmoor/Appin/Wilton/Highlands area who would be a good fit for us- please send them this way to follow our 8 week journey to our opening in July!

As exciting as opening new venues is, let’s not beat around the bush, small business is HARD at the moment, everyone is watching their pennies and looking forward to a snuggle under the doona for the winter. But if hibernation isn’t an option for you, or you are feeling like your motivation is slumping- then WorkLife is a great place to be- energy is contagious and there is nothing like a few days in our space to reboot your work mojo and get some sh*t done. So reach out and lean into our community this winter. Together we will get through this, just like we have every other challenge thats been thrown at us these last few years.

We are using the cooler and shorter days to focus on the systems that support our operations – and are excited to be migrating all of our members, virtual members, board room bookings and holiday day passes to Hamlet am Aussie community and space management platform built to support our future multi-site vision. Back end innovations take time- but digital transformation, cyber safety and innovation never takes a rest- so we are busily transforming.

My other current obsession with the potential for Ai continues apace- and next month, with an old colleague from my TEDxSydney days, Dan Canham and I are hosting a“How to Add Ai Arms & Legs to Your Leadership Team” workshop for other operators of regional and independent Coworking spaces care of my Board Role with Flexible Workspace Australia.

That, and a big month of FREE workshops for my other role as President of the Berry Chamber of Commerce & Tourism of Personal Wellbeing and Businesses Wellness is going to keep us busy until……OPEN FIELD kicks off. These two initiatives keeping us busy are both the result of collaborations initiated around the coffee machine at WorkLife. Current members, involved with community organisations, encouraging us to support- which in turn creates opportunities for engagement and promotion for WorkLife- the virtuous circle continues and reflects the interests and values of the communities which we operate in.

In Coledale, the month of May saw us host a beautiful weekend of Markets Markets and creative workshops. With the help of members and partners Coal Coast Magazine and the curatorial wizardry of Elle McNeill- we hosted our 3rd consecutive Mothers Day event and each time we throw the doors open we meet more people in the local community and deepen those local connections. One of the visitors to the markets this time is a player on the local Coledale Waves Womens Soccer Team– WorkLife is delighted to have taken up the sponsorship of this team- we will be previewing some films shot for the upcoming Womens World Cup Tournament as a fundraiser for them. Again a beautiful rich collaboration between Ben Hartman, of No 2nd Place– one of Suite Holders at Coledale and a local all-female film company Good Chat who are regulars at our International Womens Day lunches.

Finally, to all those new members who have recently joined WorkLife- thank you for bringing your energies and sparkle to our Community. As our numbers grow we look forward to being able to continue to promote, advocate, educate, network and socialise our way through the dark winter to good times ahead.

Always better together, hang in there.

Best wishes,

Kate Dezarnaulds
