Join us to learn more about the upcoming Voice to Parliament.
THE REFERENDUM QUESTION:
“A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”
Changing the Constitution is a rare event in Australia and this proposed amendment has sparked significant debate.
Many people have questions about the Voice, such as its origins and how it fits with our legal and constitutional system.
It is compulsory to vote in a referendum. This is a great opportunity to be better informed when you go to vote on the 14 October.
The event is being organised for all those with curiosity, interest or concerns about the upcoming referendum and is not an event affiliated with either the YES or NO campaign.
The Imperfect Allies of Berry (a group of local residents who have undertaken the Waminda Cultural Immersion Program) have responded to a request from local Aboriginal leaders to produce and promote an Information Forum on the upcoming Referendum for the people of Berry.
This Forum will foreground Aboriginal perspectives and share expert legal knowledge on the implications of the referendum and Voice.
We warmly invite you to attend this FREE Community event.
Sunday afternoon, 24th September, 3pm-5.30pm at the Berry School of Arts.
This event is an opportunity for the local community to hear Aboriginal perspectives and expert answers to questions about the Referendum, The Voice and its implications.
The event will be moderated by Richard Morecroft, Broadcaster and Interviewer, and these are the panel of experts:
-
- Geoff Scott, Key Leader throughout the Uluru Dialogue process, 30 years working in Aboriginal Affairs (Wiradjuri)

- Each panel member will then present for 5-10 minutes on the importance of the Referendum from their perspective.
- The Information Forum will conclude with a Question and answer session moderated by Richard Morecroft.
- Questions are warmly invited to be submitted by writing as part of your registration for the event.
NOTE: There won’t be questions from the floor taken, but you are welcome to continue the conversation with our panellists over tea, coffee and refreshments after the Forum.
