Word of the Year – 2024 is for #enough

Welcome to 2024! The kids have settled back in at school and now that we are deep into the weeds of February the new year feels like it can truly get underway.

If you’re like me, you probably will have marked the “beginning” of 2024 a few times now- New Years Day; the first time you opened your emails and did some work, the first time you made it back to the office; the first time you felt that you could organise a meeting that people would be around to attend; the first week you recommitted to not drinking on week nights; the day after the Australia Day long weekend and FINALLY the week after school went back. Yep. That’s 7 ‘NEW YEAR, NEW ME’ occasions I have marked, and now that it’s February- this 2024 business is about to speed up and become very real.

At WorkLife it is a DELIGHT to see our spaces so very busy and so very buzzy. New businesses to get to know, long time members to swap tales of summer reads and future holiday destinations with.

If you are pretty sure that 2024 needs to deliver a bit more PRODUCTIVITY, BALANCE & COMMUNITY- then you know where to find us- we would love to sweep you up in our New Year momentum and help you get your WorkLife mojo back on track for the year ahead.

Now I don’t know about you, but I ditched the self-flagellation of New Years Resolutions years ago and replaced that awful ritual with a kinder one of choosing a “word of the year”.

The last few years are a hoot to review and are as follows;
2019 was ‘FOCUS’ (the year I doubled down on the WorkLife vision)
2020 was ‘RESET’ (oops- got a little more than we bargained for there).
2021 was ‘BELIEF’ (hold your nerve, double or nothing is the way forward)
2022 was ‘NEVERTHELESS’ (aka who the hell knows what’s coming next)
2023 was ‘EASEFUL’ (ha! I didn’t even get to say hello to her at a bar)

And…..drumroll please…….2024 is going to be the year of ENOUGH.

No doubt there needs to be some consolidation, some balance, some pruning, some self care and foundations re-established. But it is also about making sure that there is enough fun, enough time with friends, enough rest, enough holidays, enough revenue, enough challenge. LESS WORK & ENOUGH LIFE.

So at the beginning of this new working year, I am excited to set course for the opportunities that ENOUGH will bring.

What’s your word of the year? Would LOVE to know so I can help hold you accountable to your good intentions too 😉

May your year begin in earnest as you intend it to. And if it doesn’t feel right- come and give your local WorkLife a try!
