Community and Background
Can you tell us a bit about your journey to the Berry community? How did you end up here and what attracted you to this community?
My wife is originally from Gerringong, so we recently relocated to the South Coast to be closer to family and enjoy the coastal lifestyle. With a growing family, it felt like the right time for a change. Joining Worklife has been a great part of the move — it means I can stay productive without commuting to our Sydney office daily.
Business and Entrepreneurship
Tell us about your work. How and when did you decide to start it, and what motivated you to take the plunge into entrepreneurship or remote work?
I’ve spent over 10 years working with major FMCG businesses, selling a wide range of consumer goods into national supermarket chains across Australia. While I gained valuable experience, I reached a point where I no longer wanted to keep building someone else’s business. That’s when I made the decision to start my own.
Earlier in my career, I was also a partner in a business based in Los Angeles, which gave me my first real taste of entrepreneurship. I thrived in that environment — challenges and all — and found that I worked best when the pressure is on. That experience stayed with me and ultimately inspired me to take this next step.
What does work-life balance look like for you? How do you manage the demands of work while ensuring time for family and personal life?
Achieving 100% balance between work and personal life is incredibly difficult – especially during the early stages of building a business, when sacrifices are often necessary. That said, I’ve learned how important it is to look after yourself physically and to carve out time for family and the things that truly matter. The more conscious I’ve become of this, the better I’ve been at showing up – both professionally and personally.
In your industry, what recent disruptions or transitions have had the most significant impact on your business?
I’m not sure if it’s so much a disruption or a transition, but what’s clear is that consumers are becoming more considered with how they spend. They’re looking for brands that deliver quality products at fair prices – the classic idea of value. This shift is having a real impact on supply chain businesses like ours, particularly in how we source and partner with brands. At the end of the day, commercial viability is essential for any consumer product, no matter how good it is.
Benefits of WorkLife Membership
Lastly, what’s been the most valuable aspect of being a member at WorkLife for you and your work?
The great people.
