Renu Tendak // Unleash Your Genius Within
Renu and Karan are Unleashing Your childs Genius Within. Building belief. Raising standards. Changing outcomes. UYGW is where confidence grows and results follow.
Community and Background:
Can you tell us a bit about your journey to the Picton community? How did you end up here and what attracted you to this community?
We chose Picton because there’s space here — space to think, raise a family, build something meaningful. I didn’t want to grow a business in a rush. I wanted to grow it in a community. Wollondilly offers that. Being local matters to me. I work with families I see at the shops, at events, in everyday life. That keeps me accountable in the best way.
Business and Entrepreneurship:
Tell us about your work. How and when did you decide to start it, and what motivated you to take the plunge into entrepreneurship?
UYGW started because I kept seeing capable children quietly lose confidence. It was never intelligence they lacked — it was belief, structure and someone steady in their corner who expected more from them.
As both an educator and a mother, I couldn’t ignore that. I didn’t want to just improve marks; I wanted to protect confidence early and build it properly. So I created the kind of education space I would want for my own children — disciplined, personalised and grounded in character as much as results.
Families today don’t just want extra worksheets. They want guidance, strategy and for their child to be genuinely seen. That’s what we provide.
What does work-life balance look like for you? How do you manage the demands of work while ensuring time for family and personal life?
For me, balance comes from structure.
I wake early. I move my body. I plan my day properly. When I’m working, I’m fully focused. When I’m home, I am fully present.
Having a separate workspace at WorkLife has made a real difference. It creates a boundary. I don’t bring my whole business into my kitchen anymore — and that’s a win.
In your industry, what recent disruptions or transitions have had the most significant impact on your business?
One of the biggest shifts in our industry has been around people — not curriculum. Finding the right educators has become the real challenge. Not just qualified tutors, but passionate, visionary trainers who genuinely care about shaping young minds, not just delivering content.
At UYGW, our standards are high. We’re not looking for someone to “cover material.” We’re looking for mentors who understand that confidence, discipline and identity matter just as much as academic skill. That kind of educator is rare — and protecting the culture of our team is something I take seriously.
Growth is important, but alignment is more important. I would rather grow slowly with the right people than quickly with the wrong ones.
Personal Life:
Outside of work, what are your hobbies and passions? How do you like to spend your time when you’re not focused on business or family?
I love gardening. I love watching things grow slowly and properly. It reminds me that growth takes consistency, feeding the right nutrition and creating a nurturing environment.
I’m also big on yoga and creating calm spaces. I function better when my environment feels organised and intentional.
Are there any books or podcasts you’ve found particularly inspiring or informative recently? Any recommendations for the WorkLife community?
I tend to read around mindset, leadership and education. Anything that challenges me to think better or lead better usually ends up on my shelf.
How do you maintain boundaries between work and personal life? Any top tips?
Clear time blocks and being honest about capacity.
If it doesn’t align with my mission, my health or my family — it doesn’t get my time.
Design and Lifestyle:
What is your taste like? Do you have a favourite item of furniture or object in your home? Anything that has special significance or tells a story about you?
I like light, simple spaces. Nothing cluttered.
My garden is probably my favourite “place.” It represents patience. You don’t rush roots.
If you were to showcase the best of local lifestyle to visiting friends, where would you take them and why?
I’d take visitors somewhere outdoors first. The walking trails. A good local café – my favourite is La Crema Cafe on Argyle Street, Picton.
What I love about this area is that ambition and lifestyle can exist together, we don’t have to choose one.
Productivity and Time Management:
What’s your go-to productivity hack? How do you stay organised and efficient, especially with multiple responsibilities?
I plan properly.
If it’s not scheduled, it doesn’t happen. I prioritise deep work and I refine systems constantly. It is a work in progress, clarity removes stress.
Benefits of WorkLife Membership:
Lastly, what’s been the most valuable aspect of being a member at WorkLife for you and your work?
At WorkLife, I appreciate the natural light and the calm feel. It’s professional without feeling corporate. That balance suits me plus the yellow, full of love, life and laughter 💛.
Lastly, what’s been the most valuable aspect of being a member at WorkLife for you and your work?
The separation – it allows me to operate seriously during work hours and then close that chapter for the day. That mental switch matters.
It also feels good to work in a space that supports local professionals. Strong regional communities don’t happen by accident — they’re built intentionally and I believe in building where you live.
